The Grant Writer is to be primarily responsible for ensuring that Bankwatch's proposal reports to funders are properly prepared and sent. Further, the Grant Writer will be expected to maintain the internal reporting mechanism in line with the activities of the organisation as set out in the annual work-plan as well as the internal reporting schedule.

Key responsibilities

  1. Preparation of the funding applications to various donors, based on Bankwatch strategic goals and campaigning team plans.
  2. Preparation of the narrative reports to funders including ensuring that the information received from the Bankwatch team members’ or in the partners’ narrative reports is adequate to allow for the preparation of reports to funders.
  3. Maintaining files with necessary information such as various reports, legal documents, donor contracts, letters from donors etc.
  4. Monitoring the implementation of the work plan on a quarterly basis, making relevant team leaders and management aware of any potential oversights in the implementation of the work plan so that it can be rectified.
  5. Maintaining communication with Bankwatch donors, reviewing various grant agreements and potentially applying for new grants.

Description of the ideal candidate

Experience and knowledge:

  • At least 2 years of experience in the management of the EU funded projects – either on the national or the EU level or grant writing
  • Good knowledge of the main EU financing tools (funds, operational programmes etc.) and the rules of the granting process
  • Proven track record of preparing complex monitoring reports to donors
  • Experience in working with basic documents such as calls for proposals, guidelines etc.
  • Strong spoken and written English
  • Good office software skills
  • Previous NGO experience welcomed

Location and time frame:
The Grant Writer will be located in one of the Bankwatch member offices. Considering the organisational structure, the Grant Writer will be a member of the Bankwatch fundraising team. Position is for one year with likely extention.
